ACCOUNTABILITY

Who publishes Plague Map?

Plague Map is published by LoDoWeb, which is responsible for this site's editorial decisions and corrections. This is an independent information project, not a public health authority or a medical service.

Published October 15, 2026. Contact the publisher.

Editorial responsibility

Reports are selected and reviewed for Plague Map. We compare claims with the original public health statements, identify the reporting date and retain uncertainty when evidence conflicts. The site does not claim physician review, independent laboratory verification or complete global surveillance.

What gets published?

An event needs a dated source, an approximate location, a supported classification and editorial approval. We prioritize original WHO, CDC and relevant regional health authority publications. News reports may document a claim, but do not turn it into a confirmed diagnosis. Read the classification rules and source directory.

Corrections and changes

Email info@plaguemap.com with the page URL, the statement you believe is wrong and a supporting source. We review the evidence and record material corrections or reclassifications in the public map history. Reader comments are not part of the approved dataset.

On October 12, we changed the Irkutsk pin from Suspected to Unconfirmed and removed the earlier suspected-case figure from the current tally after WHO's later assessment. The timeline preserves that change and its rationale. Unknown is not zero.

Review date versus new evidence

Last reviewed means we checked available sources. Latest source means the date of the publication supporting a report. A review with no new evidence does not create a new case, confirm an outbreak or resolve an undiagnosed event. Updates are editorial, not an automatic news feed.

Ownership and funding

LoDoWeb also publishes Live Ebola Map. The projects have separate disease records and newsletters. Plague Map accepts voluntary Ko-fi and Bitcoin Lightning donations to support its operation. Donations do not establish evidence for a report or change its classification.

Reuse and attribution

When sharing a finding, link to the original health authority source and identify the reporting date. If sharing this map or its editorial classification, also link to the relevant Plague Map page. Our summaries do not replace the underlying source. Privacy information.
